A jam night for under-18s in Christchurch. Turn up, plug in, make some noise, make some friends — maybe start a band.

Your first session

Nervous about coming along? Don't be.

Everyone at The Music Club walked in for the first time once, not knowing anyone. Two hours later they were in a room full of mates playing music. That's the whole idea.

Just turn up to the next jam session at The Thomas Tripp. A parent or carer is welcome to come in with you, and Sandie will be there to say hello and get you settled.

Do I need to be good at music?

No! Total beginners are just as welcome as gigging players. Jam sessions are about having a go, not being perfect.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. Ever. The venues give us their space for free and the club is free for every young person who comes.

Do I need my own instrument?

Bring one if you have one — but there's always kit to share at the sessions, so don't let that stop you coming.

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely. Lots of people do, and that's exactly how most of our bands met each other.

What if I just want to sing? Or watch?

Singers, songwriters, drummers, bassists, and the just-curious are all welcome. You can ease in at your own pace.

Info for parents & carers

Sessions run during term time in the function space at The Thomas Tripp pub, Christchurch, and are supervised throughout. You're welcome to stay, or drop off and pick up. Message us on Facebook or Instagram with any questions.

Jam sessions & gig nights

Jam sessions run two Tuesdays a month during term time, 5:30–7:00pm at The Thomas Tripp. Gig nights at Chaplins are your chance to play a real stage in front of a real crowd.

Our story

How it started

A couple of years ago there was nowhere local for young people to get together, pick up instruments and just play. So Sandie started The Music Club — a simple idea: a free, friendly space where any young person can jam, learn, and find their people.

Since then, hundreds of kids have come through the doors. Friendships have formed, confidence has grown, bands have been born, and Music Club bands now play real gigs on real stages across Dorset and beyond.

The club is supported by Youth Music funding and run with a lot of love, entirely free for every young person who comes.
